Still waiting for Orange to activate our internet connection.

It is now 7 weeks since we placed our order for a phone line, internet and TV package from Orange (used to be France Telecom). The only reason that this blog entry is here is due to our incredibly generous neighbours Dedé and Lulu.
From the moment we moved in, he has made us feel welcome, and not just with words. When the grass needed cutting, and we asked him what brand lawnmower to buy, Dedé insisted that November was entirely the wrong time of year to buy a lawnmower, and that we should wait until January for the "Lawn Mower Sales". Until then we should use his. We ordered firewood and spent 2 hours stacking in a torrential downpour at 7am. The wood was so wet that we christened it "safety wood", because it is almost fire retardent! Dedé loaned us 6 barrows of wood so dry, that they almost spontaneously combust. He has now given me the wep key for his wireless internet, which I can just about see using a high power wireless aerial bluetacked to the wall in my office. It's alive!!

Nearly there?

Unbelievably, I received the text message from Orange saying that my internet connection was now working and that I should plug in my live box "AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!!" to "BENEFIT FROM THEIR FANTASTIC SERVICES". I plugged it in. It does not work. Quel surprise !
